BREASTFEEDING IS NOT A CHOICE ITS AN RESPONSIBILITY. . . . .!!

A newborn baby has only three demands.  They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence.  Breastfeeding satisfies all three.   ~Grantly Dick-Read

Breastfeeding is an instinctual and natural act,but it is also an art that is learned day by day.It is almost always simply a matter of practical knowledge and not a question of good luck.  

And  here i did a small study(though not an proper planned study method)  about how many mommies know about this art and how many of them have practiced this art in a very fair manner. . . . . .   SURPRISINGLY!! the result i got astonished me. . .yaa in my study where i considere almost 28 mommies only about 10% of them knew that breastfeeding can be (or its better if i tell should be) done for 2 years  . . .and only about 20% knew that the first and the only best food for the baby is her breast milk. . . 

we tried our best to explain those moms and create awareness among them. .  .

And for this programme that we did i would like to thank all my classmates who participated and  my friend sagar m.s. who helped me to edit and of all mainly Dr.vinayak who gave me an oppertunity to execute my idea. . .                           

BEATING HEART and a RESTING BRAIN!!!

Man is different from animals because human brain is finely designed to handle complex things and lead an intellectual life...
But have you ever imagined a life without this wonderful organ...yes my dear friends ...this anomoly where in a baby is born without THE BRAIN is called ANENCEPHALY....
Case study
A female patient 27years old married since 3years with the parity index of G2P1L1 ...LMP 14.03.2015...POG of 19weeks had visited to the hospital for regular antenatal check up..
An anomoly scan was done during which  the following findings were obtained:
1)Single live fetus
2)FHR :140beats per minute
3)cardiac activity and active fetal movements were seen
4)AC 123mm
5) FL 27mm
6)Head :cranial vault was absent ; anencephaly noted
7)Four chambered heart with normal outflow tracts
8)Abdomen cord insertion normal; kidney visualised ;bladder and small bowel normal
9) Facial profile normal
10)Premaxillary triangle normal
11)Extremities were normal..no club foot..    Typing credits-pj nd bj . .

CLOTTING TIME FOR LUNG CANCER. . . .

Bit unrealistic,bit confusing but still an amazing test -LOGICAL . .

 got this idea while reading ROBBINS textbook of pathology,where it has been mentioned that there is subclinical activation of blood coagulation in lung ca pt. . yup!!Than it was my area 48 which linked this statement of robbins to the test for clotting which i had read in my first mbbs. . .hence if everything that has been linked forms an working circuit,than it can be termed that, prolonged clotting time=severe lung cancer. . . .but than when i did some googly research{yaa i know its google!!} about this got many intresting facts, which i would like to share . . .

And yaa i agree that using this idea for Dx of lung cancer is quiet impossible,but can be used to check the prognosis of the pt on treatment. . .

THE THREE- GLASS TEST...

In male,the microscopic examination of the urine for pus cells,can be made more diagnostic by collecting the specimen in three glasses or containers.The stream is started in the first container, then moved to the second container, and then completed in the third container, all without stopping the STREAM.
IN URETHRITIS  the pus is predominantly or exclusively in the first glass, in PROSTATITIS the pus is in the first and third glasses ;And in BLADDER and KIDNEY  infection the pus is in all three glassses.. .

A TEST TO DETECT FRACTURE WITHOUT X-RAY. .

A thought that hit my mind whine i was in my first year. . .when the lecturer in physio lab told that 'BONE CONDUCTION IS BETTER THAN AIR CONDUCTION'. So it was bone conduction,and BONE=FRACTURE. . .
Now the idea is to detect fracture. . .HOW??it was just by using an TUNING FORK and a STETHESCOPE  . .
PROCEDURE-keepin tuning fork at the distal end of injury and stethescope at proximal end ,interprete with the sound
INTERPRETATION-As bone is a good conductor of sound,hence in a normal bone sound waves are transmitted and heard on auscultation. . . .but if the bone is fractured and is cut,then tuning fork vibrations are not conducted,hence no sound heard on auscultation. . .

RESULT-As its just a thought and i have not yet tried i am still not sure. . .
               but when i discussed this with a friend he just tried it on abdomen,and he could ausculcate sound,wheras abdome has no bone. . 
THOUGH BONE CONDUCTION IS BETTER BUT ITS NOT THE ONLY CONDUCTOR OF SOUND IN HUMAN BODY. . .!!
